From Rock Bottom to Resilience: Jenny Siepka's Story
At 37 years old, I decided to try for another child. It wasn’t an easy journey. I endured several miscarriages, and then at five months pregnant, my cervix opened unexpectedly. I delivered a stillborn baby. That day remains the most painful and heartbreaking moment of my life.
But I didn’t give up. I went on to suffer two more miscarriages until I finally got pregnant with my son, Hunter. The fear of losing him was overwhelming. I bought a recliner and barely left it for nine months. I became deconditioned, sedentary, and weak. But when Hunter was born healthy and strong—just shy of my 40th birthday—I knew it was all worth it.
Still, the toll on my body was massive. Just three weeks after giving birth, I was hospitalized with a suspected blood clot. At that time, I weighed 247
pounds!! People see me now and assume I can’t relate to the struggles of being overweight. But I’ve lived it. I’ve gasped for breath just trying to make it around a track. I’ve cried in silence. I’ve felt stuck.
But I refused to stay there.
Fast forward to today: I am the strongest I have ever been. I figured out how to train effectively in menopause. I learned how to feed my body with intention. And I optimized my hormones with bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT).
I didn’t do all this to become someone else. I did it to become me again.
